The makings of a sign maker

Once upon a time there was a gal with a fine arts and newspaper background who became fascinated with signs. Big signs, little signs, wall signs, vehicle signs.
"Ah, ha," she said. Here would be a way to use my artistic training doing something fun and, hopefully, profitable."
Right about that time, Tightwad Signs & Graphics came up for sale...
and, as they say, the rest is history - history in the making.
The learning curve was anything but smooth since I didn't get any training from the former owner, thanks to patience, lots of reading and lots of practice, as well as lots of help from the family, I'm well on the way to considering myself a "Sign Maker".
Of course, this is a business where you never stop learning and each job has its unique properties and problems but challenge and growth keep us young.
I hope to use future blogs to give folks hints for applying their own vinyl lettering, understanding the necessity of signs, explore different types of signs and offering new ideas for signs and sigh materials.
I'll also post some of the more interesting jobs we have done and are doing, including the pitfalls and pleasures.
Tune in another day to learn how we got stranded 30' in the air with no way of getting down....
